Hey, I’m Oskar Groth — a Product Engineer and Founder from Stockholm, Sweden. For the past decade I’ve been building tools that elevate the Mac experience — from performance and optimization apps like Sensei, to creative platforms like Backdrop, a wallpaper engine that lets users transform their desktop with immersive animated scenes. My work has been featured by 9to5Mac, MacRumors, and Sketch, and my products have reached millions of users worldwide.I’m currently exploring AI-native product design through Mintly, a next-generation accounting platform built on FastAPI, Supabase, and OpenAI’s agentic stack. You can find me on Twitter, GitHub, LinkedIn, or reach out at oskar@cindori.com.Resume
Developing Mintly, an AI-powered accounting and automation platform for Swedish SMEs. Architecting a Python/FastAPI + Postgres + Supabase backend with event-driven workflows and RAG-based contextual search. Integrating OpenAI Agents and the Vercel AI SDK for autonomous data interpretation and report generation. Focused on explainable AI, developer-friendly design, and high-integrity financial data processing.
Established a new company focused on AI-native business software for the next generation of developers. Early R&D focused on integrating modern AI agent workflows into product architecture.

Created a Mac wallpaper engine that lets users transform their desktop with immersive video scenes. Built using SwiftUI and Metal with a custom VideoToolbox encoder for efficient 4K playback and a CloudKit backend for sharing and discovery of community-made backdrops. Engineered an in-app browser with moderation and admin tooling for content curation. Reverse-engineered macOS’s private wallpaper system to enable the world’s first support for lock-screen video wallpapers.

Developed a real-time licensing and fulfillment backend using Firebase and TypeScript, integrating Paddle webhooks to mirror all billing data. Implemented fulfillment pipelines for license key and subscription delivery and exposed REST APIs for secure client-side validation. Built a Next.js + 2FA email code client portal where users can manage licenses and subscriptions without account registration.

Designed and developed the full company website in Next.js/React, styled with CSS Modules and animations powered by GSAP. Integrated Paddle Checkout for payments, a custom MDX-based blog and support system, newsletter signup, analytics, and a live License Manager frontend for customer self-service.

Developed a multi-feature Mac optimization suite in SwiftUI/AppKit, featuring performance dashboards, disk health analytics, and optimization tools. Built a low-level file scanner working directly on the virtual file system and integrated a modular, real-time status monitor for the menu bar (Sensei Monitor). Implemented orchestration layers via XPC between the main app, privileged helper tools, and background processes. Reverse-engineered macOS hardware APIs to read S.M.A.R.T. data from NVMe drives and implemented a custom kernel extension for enabling Trim on third-party SSDs.

Joined Dooer, a fintech startup building AI-powered accounting tools for small businesses. Designed and developed the company’s iOS app with document scanning, invoice payments, and financial dashboards. Rebuilt the document scanner from OpenGL to Metal for improved performance. Created a design-to-code workflow using Sketch and custom codegen utilities, enabling designers to push UI changes directly to Xcode. Deployed a custom Hackintosh CI/CD build system, cutting build times by 5×.

Developed Command Center in AppKit, a macOS Control Center–style utility that provided quick access to system settings, performance controls, and hardware monitoring. Released in 2015 - five years before Apple introduced Control Center in macOS Big Sur.

Built a Virtual Reality desktop environment in SceneKit/Metal for the Oculus DK2, allowing users to extend their Mac workspace into a 3D environment with virtual screens.

Founded and operated an independent Mac software studio, building a portfolio of apps used by millions of users worldwide. Managed every aspect of the business solo — product strategy, UX/UI design, architecture, development, infrastructure, QA, analytics, marketing, support, community, and press outreach.

Released Trim Enabler, a utility that unlocked TRIM support for third-party SSDs on macOS, a feature Apple reserved only for their own drives. Generated sustainable revenue and established a loyal customer base, laying the foundation for future Mac app products.

Began formal studies in software engineering while continuing to build and ship indie Mac projects. Specialized in software architecture, interaction design, and iOS development. Completed my Master’s thesis: A Virtual Reality Desktop Environment for Mac OS X.

Built my first Hackintosh at 14 and fell in love with macOS internals. At 15 created Zeus, a GPU-flashing utility written in AppleScript + Bash that enabled PC graphics cards to run in the 2006 Mac Pro — it quickly gained traction in the MacRumors community and drew donations from professional editors.
